I love to work with technology! On the job at The National List, not only do I get to lay out our printed Directory every year, work on our websites (www.nationallist.com and www.creditorsrightslawfirms.com) and on other technology-related projects, but I also get to test various programs and applications that we consider for use by our staff.
I was very excited to be given a new iPad to play with. And, when I say “play,” what I really should say is “test.” I get to find and try apps, in order to see what our staff can use to increase productivity, efficiency and mobility.
The first thing I did when I got the iPad was to ask other people who have one what apps they are using and like. And being the frugal person I am, my next question was “…and which of those apps are free?” I like FREE!
One of the first apps I was told about is Readability. This is such a great app! Not only does it allow you to read online content immediately in a cleaner, more reader-friendly format, but for those of us who don’t have enough time in the day to read everything we should, this app allows us to download content into the app to read later offline. No longer do I need to worry about always having the internet or a WIFI connection to stay current with blogs and articles I find online. Now, I simply open the Readability app on my iPad, find the article I want and then click Read Later. It’s automatically added to my reading list on Readability.
Not only is this app really easy to use, but it is completely free! It also turns any web page into a clean view for reading now or later on your computer or smartphone (iPhone or Android). You can also send articles to your Amazon Kindle.
I was very excited to share this app with my co-workers who travel, and to show them how easy it is to remain up to date on all the current industry news, when you are on that airplane or in that cab from the airport, with no Internet.
I got to play at work today. Did you? Share something you do at work that feels like play. Or share your favorite app. We’d love to hear from you.
