Meet Your NL Team — Brittany Roe

Brittany RoeThe National List is about more than custom attorney referrals. We are also about excellent service not offered by any other attorney list. Because most of our interaction with members and clients is likely to take place on the phone, we think it will help you to feel more comfortable if you have a mental and visual image of us. This is the third of our introductions to a National List Team Member who will help to give you the excellent service our members and clients have come to expect. Brittany Roe, NL Office Assistant for 8 years, is our “Team Member of the Month.”

Brittany started working for NL on September 5, 2006, when she was just a junior in high school. She took a Co-Op class that gave her credit for working in a professional environment. NL participates in this program, so her teacher knew Randy Nicola and helped her to get a job with us. “It was a great class, because I got credit for going to work, plus a paycheck,” Brittany said. She’s been with us ever since.

Brittany’s primary responsibilities are monitoring and managing all received claims for insurance purposes. This includes client notifications regarding received claims, claim information verification, and client contacts regarding discrepancies in claim information. This involves follow-up, monthly reminders to clients to insure claims, and sending recaps to clients who request them for verification of accuracy. In her “spare time,” Brittany also helps other staff members with any projects for which they may need an extra hand. Whether you’re an attorney or a forwarder, you may hear from Brittany in the course of insuring a claim. If while entering claims from a forwarder, she needs to verify any changes or payment information, she will contact the attorney handling the claims. “I verify and enter claims for insurance in a timely manner, and I always try to respond promptly and professionally to emails and phone calls. I think keeping a smile on my face when answering the phones is just one key to excellent service.”

When asked what she has learned about the debt collection industry that some people don’t know, she replied, “It always surprises me when some people who ask me about my job don’t understand what it is I can do for attorneys and clients. I enjoy telling them that I play an important role in insuring registered claims for up to $3,500,000! We are the only law list in the industry that doesn’t share an insurance policy with other companies. Therefore, you won’t find better protection anywhere! It’s challenging to make sure all the claims that are insurable are insured within a reasonable amount of time.” Brittany does a great job of doing just that!

Brittany was born and raised in Bismarck, ND. After high school, she attended college at Bismarck State College, where she earned both a General and a Legal Administrative Assistant degree. “Although there were new people who joined my class throughout the years, most of the people I knew in elementary school, I still know today. I always say Bismarck is a small big town. You may meet someone you have never met before and then 2 days later see that same person at the gym and find out you both have been at that gym for months. Compared to most populated areas, Bismarck is small, but compared to the small towns we have in North Dakota, it’s a big town.

“My favorite thing about North Dakota is the scenery. In the winter it may be cold at times, but when the sun shines through the frosted trees, it’s very pretty. Some days you will have a nice breeze, fluffy clouds, and rolling grassy planes that make it look like someplace in a movie. And the sunsets look like a beautiful painting, no matter what part of North Dakota you live in. I’ve visited many other places, and I always love coming home.”

On Valentine’s Day this year, Brittany got engaged to her boyfriend of 5 years. They plan to get married next summer and hope to have a family someday. When she’s not working, she enjoys watching movies, fishing, camping, and spending time with her family and friends. “My goals in life are to be happy and healthy. I hope to have a loving family of my own, and I look forward to the many more years I will be with NL. This may be my first job, but it’s a great one! Everyone at NL makes my job enjoyable, and I can only continue to grow and learn as our industry and company does.”
