The Wynn hotel in Las Vegas was the venue for NARCA’s Annual Fall Conference, held October 23-25, 2014. Randy Nicola and Kacey Rask were The National List’s lucky attendees. We hope you were able to see them there. As always, the NARCA Conference offered several excellent networking opportunities. Our main purposes in attending this and other conferences is to network with and to work on behalf of you, our members and clients, to make introductions and new friends, and to get to know the people that we work with in a more personal way than just over the phone.
Networking Opportunities
Thursday evening, there was a reception for first-time attendees and new NARCA members. A Grand Opening Reception in the Exhibit Hall provided an excellent networking opportunity, as well as a chance to see what’s new from industry vendors. Friday morning, an early session called “Practice Group Networking Opportunities gave attendees a chance to meet with colleagues from their collection practice areas. That evening, there was an Exhibitor Hall Happy Hour followed by a James Bond themed special event held in the Tryst Nightclub. Breakfasts, lunches and breaks were also good networking opportunities.
Client meetings by-invitation-only provided a time for the creditors to meet with their attorneys, share visions and changes that are taking place in the industry. Many of the creditors and legal networks provide awards to their attorneys for meeting their goals and expectations.
Randy reported, “I personally made many introductions between National List lawyers and other law firms that have an interest in expanding their footprint into other states. Their clients are asking them to ‘expand their territory of coverage.’”
Conference Sessions
As one might expect, much talk and energy centered on compliance and regulations. “The word on the street is the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) will produce their Do’s and Don’ts within the next 18-24 months,” Randy observed.
