The National List of Attorneys congratulates Paul I. Mendelson, founder of Mendelson Law Firm in Memphis, TN, and a member of The National List for more than 40 years, for being the 2016 recipient of the CLLA’s prestigious Robert E. Caine Leadership Award.
According to the Commercial Law League of America, “The Robert E. Caine Leadership Award is given each year to a CLLA member who demonstrates and encourages leadership among others within the CLLA; mentors others both within the CLLA and within the person’s business segment; fosters goodwill, fraternity and confidence within the CLLA; and serves the community through personal efforts and/or charitable contributions.”
Our own Leslie Herr was present at the recent CLLA Conference, and told Paul, “It was a pleasure to see you receive such a great honor, and then to see both your sons there to support you, as well, was wonderful. The National List has been blessed to have your firm as a member for 40 years. Thank you for your years of service to National List clients. We hope to continue working with your firm for many years to come.”
We asked Paul to describe his firm. He said, “Our office is a true creditor’s rights law firm. We represent only creditors in commercial, retail and subrogation matters. Our office has nine attorneys and we practice throughout the entire states of Tennessee and Mississippi. I currently practice with my son, David Mendelson. My other son, Lee Mendelson, practices in Los Angeles, and his firm is Mendelson, Goldman, and Schwarz.”
Paul has been honored and recognized by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the State of Tennessee for leadership and contributions to the bar. He is a member of the Memphis Bar Association, State of Tennessee Bar Association, and he’s licensed in the U.S. District in all state courts in Tennessee and the U.S. District Court.
Paul has a long history of service within the CLLA. He is a past president and Southern Region Chair. He has been involved in the Creditors’ Rights Executive Council, Bankruptcy and Insolvency Sections, Young Members Section, Southern Region Executive Committee, Office Management Economics Committee, National Structure Committee, Kitchen Cabinet, Nominating Council, Marketing Committee, By-Laws Committee, Finance and Statistics Committee, Patron Fund, and Chair of the National Commercial Law League of America Convention in Monterey, CA.
Paul also has served his community and industry in many selfless ways. He is a past president of the Jewish Family Service of Memphis; vice president, Beth Sholom Synagogue; Board of Trustees of Baron Hirsch Congregation; past Board Member of Memphis Jewish Home and B-nai B-rith. He is the recipient of an award for outstanding service to the U. of Memphis School of Law. He has served on committees in several other organizations, all to help make his community better. He has made charitable contributions to numerous organizations.
Paul concluded, “I am proud to say I have been a listee on the National List for over forty years. Our office has gained much by the privilege of being on this high quality List.”
